Located in the north of Jiangxi Province, and south side of the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River, Lianxi District enjoys a good geographic location and abundant natural conditions, subordinated to Jiujiang City , administrating 5 townships, 2 counties and 2 sub-districts, taking up an area of 369.8 km2 (the specific area remains settlement), with a population of 252400, which was called “key town on Beijing-kowloon railway, and pearl on the Bohu Lake”. It borders Boyang Lake, the domestic largest freshwater lake, in the east, Yangtze River in the North, Nanchang and Jiujiang Industrial Corridor in the west and tourist attraction Lushan in the south. Suffering magma and glacier in geologic history, Lianxi has various kind of landforms and magnificent mountains. Located in the moist climate area which is between mid-subtropical area and northern subtropics, Lianxi has sufficient illumination moderate climate, distinctive seasons and few climatic disasters, which are suitable for agriculture, forest, animal husbandry and fishery development. 
Lianxi District has a profound history and the ancestors had been lived here since the last period of Neolithic
It was called Jinzhou and Yangzhouyu in the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties. In the Spring and Autumn Period, it bordered Wu in the east and Chu in the west, therefore it was called “the head of Wu and tail of Chu”. In Warring State Period, Lianxi first belonged to Shu, then Yue, and last Southern Chu. In 26th year of Shihuang (221BC), Qin Dynasty was divided into 36 counties, and Lianxi was under the jurisdiction of Jiujiang Prefecture.  
In the 1st year of Gaozu in Han Dynasty(206BC), it was administered by Jiujiang Prefecture, Jiujiang Kingdom. In the 4th year of Gaozu, (203BC), Jiujiang Prefecture was restructured to Huainan Kingdom. In the 6th year of Gaozu (200BC), Chaisang County was set in Yuzhang County, Huainan Kingdom, and it was under the jurisdiction of Chaisang. In 1st year of , Jianguo, in Wangmang’s Dynasty (9AD), Yuzhang was renamed as Jiujiang County, and Chaisang was renamed as Jiujiangting, and it was under the jurisdiction of Jiujiangting, then followed the former name in the Eastern Han Dynasty. 
During the three Kingdoms Period, in 2nd year of Huangchu (221AD), Sunquan Emperor of Wu, set Wuchang Prefecture which administer Chaisang. 
In the 1st year of Yuankang in Jin Dynasty (291AD), the Emperor integrated 7 prefectures from Yanzhou, including Yuzhang, Boyang, Luling, Linchuan, Nankang,Jianan and Jinan, and 3 prefectures from Jinzhou, including Wuchang, Guiyang and Ancheng, into Jiangzhou which administering Chaisang County. In the 1st year of Yongxing (412AD), Xunyang, from Lujiang, and Chaisang, from Wuchang, were combined into Xunyang Prefecture, belonged to Jiangzhou.in the 8th year of Yixi (412AD), Xunyang County was emerged with Chaisang County.  
In the 2nd year of Taiqing in Southern Dynasties (548AD),Runan County was divided from Chaisang County, and both counties were subordinated to Jiangzhou.
In 9th year of Kaihuang in Sui Dynasty (589AD), Xunyang Prefecture,Chaisang County and Runan County were abolished, and Xunyang County was set, which was subordinated to Jiangzhou. In 18th year of Kaihuang (606AD), it was renamed as Pengli County, subordinating to Jiangzhou. In the 3rd year of Daye (607AD), Jiangzhou was reconstructed to Jiujiang Prefecture, and Pengli County was renamed as Pencheng County, subordinating to Lijiang Prefecture. 
In 4th year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (621AD), the government abolished prefectures and re-set Zhou, and Pencheng County was changed to Xunyang County, subordinating to Jiangzhou. In the 8th year of Wude (628AD), Pencheng County was merged to Xunyang County. In 1st year of Tianbao (742AD), Jiangzhou was reconstructed to Xunyang Prefecture, administering Xunyang County. 
In 939AD, Xunyang County was renamed as Dehua County. 
In 978AD, Xingzi County was apart from Dehua County. Lianxi belonged to both counties.  
In 1361AD, Zhu Yuanzhang, the first Emperor of the Ming Dynasty, took over Jiangzhou, and renamed it to Jiujiangfu administering Dehua County. Nankang Province was replaced by Ningxifu which administering Xingzi County. Lianxi was divided into two part, one was subordinate to Dehua County and the other to Xingzi County. 
9th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1376AD), Xiningfu was renamed as Nankangfu. 
In the 3rd year of the Republic of China (1914AD), to avoid duplication name which in Fujian and Sichuan, the government renamed Dehua as Jiujiang County. The local administration was classified to three levels, including province, Dao and county, so Lianxi was subordinated to Jiujiang County and Xingzi County, Xunyang Dao, Jiangxi Province, and abolished in 15th year of the Republic of China (1926AD). 
After the establishment of the New China, Jiujiang City was set based on Xunyang Township, Jiujiang County, Lushan Authority was established in Lushan. Lianxi was first subordinated to Jiujiang County and Xingzi County, then to Jiujiang County and Lushan Authority. 
In 1980 March, Jiujiang City was updated to provincially administrated municipality. In May, it established Xunyang District in the urban, develop district in the suburb, and Lushan District in Lushan. 6 communes of Jiujiang City, including Gongnongbing, Qianjin, Xingang, Daqiao, Zhouling and Shuichan, and 5 communes of Lushan Authority, including Hongqi, Xiangyang, Denglu, Dongfeng and Gaolong, were put under the city’s suburb. In 1983 July, the municipally affiliated county system was implemented. In 1984 May, to improve Lushan administrative system, Lushan District was repealed, and Lushan Scenic Spot Authority was established. In the August, the suburb was renamed as Lushan District. 
On April 8th, 2016, Xingzi Country was repealed and Lushan City was established. To avoid duplication name, Lushan District was renamed as Lianxi District. 
Lianxi District takes up an area of 369.8 km2, administrating 5 towns, 2 townships, and 2 sub-districts. 
Lihua Town has jurisdiction over 7 village committees (Panwan,Tanfan, Dongcheng, Longmen, Lianhua and Taiping), 8 community resident committees (Benghong, 826, Changhua, Huafeng, Jiangyang, Yijiayuan, Miaozhi and Lianhua).
Saiyang Town has jurisdiction over 5 village committees (Tangqiao, Fenghuang, Jinqiao, Saiyang and Donglin), and 1 community resident committee (Saiyang).
Gutang Town has jurisdiction over 8 village committees (Cailing, Zhouling, Xiangji, Shahu, Guangqiao, Dengqiao, Gushan and Yanhu) and 2 community resident committee (Huaqian and Gutang).
Weijia Town has jurisdiction over 5 village committees (Xingde, Jiyu, Jiuxing, Weijia and Xinhua) and 1 community resident committee (Weijia).
Xingang Town has jurisdiction over 12 village committees (Yangjiachang, Guanzhou, Jiangji, Xishan, Honglonggeng, Xingang, Taipingqiao, Wushishan, Zhulin, Fanglan, Changlingkou and Hetang) and 3 community resident committees (Dongsheng, Xingang and Rubber Plant).
Gaolong Town has jurisdiction over 5 village committees (Shuanglong, Yinmen, Qingshan, Gushan and Wuxing) and 2 community resident committees (Gaolong, and Lushan Cement Plant).
Yujiahe Township has jurisdiction over 7 village committees (Kaitian, Minsheng, Dongguang, Daqiao, Luban, Guoqiao and Shanhu) and 1 community resident committee (Yujiahe).
Shili Sub-District has jurisdiction over 2 village committees (Luozishan and Shili) and 24 community resident committees (Shilipu, Dalou, Changhong, Northern Jiangxi Shop, District Government Courtyard, Jiuchai, Nanshan, Chengnan, Dehua, Lianxi, Jiubo, Yibiao, Xinluling, Muxi, Huangtuling, 707 Institute, CTCE5, 713 Plant, Changhe Company, Jiujiang University, training college, plastic plant, 267 Branch and CSC2).
Wuli Sub-District has jurisdiction over 4 village committees (Sanlong, Wuli, Bali and Qianjin), and 9 community resident committees (Yikang, Nanhu Community, North Changhong Road, Hetang New Village, Lujialong, Xundong, Yanjialong, Nanhu, and train station).
Land resources: total land area in Lianxi District takes up of 824,546.4 acres, including 127102.5 acres of arable land and garden land, 340866.3 acres of forestry land, 186581.4 acres of water area, 150568.2 acres of resident and industrial and mining traffic land and 11522.85 acres of unused land . Water resources: 20 larger water systems in the territory, with a total length of 182 km, are originated in Lushan Mountain and its branches, covering a river network density of 0.29 km / km, and having an average annual surface runoff rate of 370 million cubic meters. The groundwater storage was 65.62 million cubic meters, which is in good quality. Water resources exploitation amount reaches to 1.4 million kilowatts.
Mineral Resources: Lianxi District has Kaolin reserves of 10 million cubic meters, limestone reserves of 30 million cubic meters, green stone reserves of 15 million cubic meters, yellow sand and river sand reserves of 35 million cubic meters. In addition, pebbles, flag stone, and Sand for construction industry has a reserve of 100 million cubic meters.
Biological resources: Lianxi District has 223 varieties of cultivated crops, including the well-known Lushan Yunwu tea, the National Silver Medal winner. The forest coverage rate reaches to 33.2%, and the main vegetation are evergreen broad-leaved forest and deciduous evergreen mixed forest, including 40 kinds of rare plants under state protection, and 30 kinds of wild animals of national priority protection; The breed aquatics is 37,000 acres, including cultivated water of 32,000 acres. It has 104 varieties of animals, including the Chinese sturgeon which is under the first-grade state protection. Native products contain “three specialties in Lushan Mountain” (stone fish, stone chicken and stone agaric), Jiujiang pepper, luohan bean, lettuce and Bamboo.
In the face of the increasing downstream pressure on the economy in 2016, the district Party committee and government lead the people of the distract implement the decisions and arrangements of the higher levels seriously. Focusing on the development idea that have a decisive battle with the new industry, build a new charming city, accelerate the integration and build a well-off society first, the district Party committee and government do all the work in a comprehensive way so the economic indicators maintained steady progress and went to the better, and they have achieved a good start in the 13th five-year plan.
Comprehensive Condition: With a preliminary accounting, Lianxi district annual GDP is 22,302 million yuan, it increases 9.3% at comparable prices, the per capital GDP is 88,578 yuan. See from industry, the first industry’s added value is 423 million yuan, an increase of 1.9% at comparable prices; the second industry’s added value is 11,979 million yuan, an increase of 7.4% at comparable prices; the third industry’s added value is 9,900 million yuan, an increase of 12.3% at comparable prices. The contribution rate of the three industries to GDP growth is respectively 0.4%, 44.7% and 54.9%, which led to GDP growth of 0.1, 4.1, and 5.1 percentage points 4 respectively.
Agriculture: The total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery in Lianxi district throughout the year 2016 is 752,280 thousand yuan which increases 3.9% at comparable prices. Of which: agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery and animal husbandry and fishery service industry respectively achieve the output value of 254,240 thousand yuan, 123,940 thousand yuan, 199,360 thousand yuan, 154,130 thousand yuan and 20,610 thousand yuan, the respective increase of them is 2.9%, 3.6%, 3.1%, 2.9% and 45.9% at comparable prices. The annual added value in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery is 43,354 thousand yuan, an increase of 6.2% over the previous year.
The annual oil output is 5,359 tons, an increase of 0.8% over the previous year. Of which, rapeseed is 4,705 tons, which increases 0.2%. Cotton output is 1,153 tons, which decreases 15.5%. Tea output is 206 tons, which increases 0.5%. Fruit production is 6,164 tons, which increases 0.4%. Vegetable production is 37,377 tons, which increases1.9%.
The total annual output of meat is 7,276 tons, an increase of 2.5% over the previous year. Of which, the output of pork is 6,120 tons, an increase of 2%. Egg production is 724 tons, an increase of 1.5%. Milk production is 312 tons, an increase of 3.7%. At the end of the year, there were 34,000 pig stocks on hand, an increase of 1.2%, and 71,000 pig for slaughter, an increase of 0.6%.
In 2016, Lianxi district actively promoted presenting documents of land ownership, it has signed 23,092 contracts, accounting for 99.65% of the total; and it has issued 23092 certificates, accounting for 99.65% of the total. The district made efforts to build core area of Mount Lu tea demonstration park and tea plantation of high production. Now the district has built the core area of Mount Lu tea demonstration park which covers 4,000 acres, and there are 6 Farmer Specialized Cooperatives, family farms and other business entities in the park.
Industry: In 2016, the total output value of 95 industrial enterprises on board in Lianxi district is 47,310 million yuan, an increase of 10.2%; the output value of sales is 473,020 million yuan, an increase of 10.2%, and the rate of production and marketing reaches 100%; the added value of regulate industry is 99,620 million yuan, an increase of 8.9%.
In the above-scale industries, the number of enterprise in the district whose output value is over 100 million yuan is 66, an increase of 5 over the same period in the last year, and the number of enterprises whose value is over 100 million yuan accounts for 69.5% of the industries in the whole region. Among them, there are 16 enterprises whose value is 5-10 billion yuan and 11 enterprises whose value is over 10 billion yuan. Enterprises whose value is more than 100 million yuan achieve a total output value of 4,582 million yuan, an increase of 11.3%, which is higher than the average growth rate of 1.9 percentage points in the region and boosts the output value of scale industry 14.4 percentage points. 
In 2016, the value of non-public industry above the scale in Lianxi district is 45,476 million yuan, accounting for 96.1% of the gross output value of above-scale industries in Lianxi District. The contribution rate is 91.5%, promoting an increase of 9.3 percentage points for above-scale industries.
In 2016, the income of the main business of large-scale industry in this district is 47,270 million yuan, an increase of 9% at comparable prices, achieving the total profit of 2,370 million yuan, an increase of 23.4% at comparable prices; the paid taxes is 1,170 million yuan, an increase of 9% at comparable prices.
Investment in fixed assets: in 2016, the region achieved a total investment of 24,500 million yuan in fixed assets, decreasing 3.9% at comparable prices. Of which: urban fixed assets is 21,712 million yuan, an decrease of 1.3% at comparable prices; real estate is 2,790 million yuan, an decrease of 19.9% at comparable prices; industrial investment is 15,270 million yuan, an increase of 6%.
In 2016, the region's housing construction area is 2,861,357 square meters, an increase of 29.8%; The new construction area is 702,178 square meters, an increase of 46.5%; the completed housing area is 132,570 square meters, an increase of 426.2% at comparable prices; the housing sales area is 645,654 square meters, an increase of 67.3%; and the housing sales amount is 429,510,000 yuan, an increase of 112.1% at comparable prices.
Open economy: in 2016, Lian district establishes five professional investment teams by grouping 9 township and streets and 52 districts in the whole region, to actively expand investment areas, further promote the modern investment and promote the synchronous propulsion of service industry and the tourist industry by focusing on developed regions like Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and the West Coast Economic Zone. In 2016, the outside capital invested in Lian Xi district is 10,718 million yuan; the used foreign capital is $146,930 thousand yuan, an increase of 21.9% at comparable prices, of which the cash is $8,780 thousand yuan; foreign trade exports is $340 million yuan; the turnover of foreign contracted projects is $28,400 thousand yuan; the newly established foreign investment enterprise is 1.
Service industry: in 2016, the added value of service industry in Lianxi district is 9,900 million yuan, the growth is 12.3% if calculated at comparable prices, and the value accounts for 44.39% of GDP.
In the service sector, The added value of the transportation, storage and postal sector is 1,820 million yuan, accounting for 18.4% of the third industry's added value, an increase of 1.9% at comparable prices;The added value of wholesale and retail industries is 2,030 million yuan, accounting for 20.5% of the third industry's added value, an increase of 14.5% at comparable prices;The added value of accommodation and catering industry is 1,440 million yuan, accounting for 14.5% of the third industry's added value, an increase of 12.5% at comparable prices;The added value of the financial sector is 1,070 million yuan, accounting for 10.8% of the third industry's added value, an increase of 65.1% at comparable prices;The added value of the real estate industry is 1,440 million yuan, accounting for 14.5% of the third industry's added value, an increase of 8.3% at comparable prices;The added value of profit service industry is 1,040 million yuan, accounting for 10.5% of the third industry's added value, an increase of 11.6% at comparable prices; The added value of non-profit services reaches 1,600 million yuan, accounting for 10.7% of the third industry's added value, an increase of 3.7% at comparable prices.The financial sector grows faster than the third industry by 52.8 percentage points, the contribution rate of third industry's added value reaches 33.7%, promoting 4.1 percentage points of the third industry's growth.
In 2016, Lian district received a total of 1,026,600 visitors, including: 1,926 overseas tourists; and the district received 815 million yuan tourism revenue which includes $639,100 foreign exchange revenue.
In 2016, the total retail sales of consumer goods achieved in Lianxi district is 2,662 million yuan, an increase of 12.6% at comparable prices.The total sales of the region's wholesale and retail industry is 2,460,146 thousand yuan, an increase of 13.2% at comparable prices. Of which,the sales of wholesale business is 1,128,997 thousand yuan, an increase of 4.1% at comparable prices; and the retail sales is 331,149 thousand yuan, an increase of 22.3% at comparable prices.The completed retail sales of accommodation and catering industry is 2,026,660 thousand yuan, an increase of 5.9% at comparable prices.Of which,the retail sales of accommodation industry completed retail salesis 712,260 thousand yuan, an increase of 0.6% at comparable prices; and the retail sales of catering industry is131,440 thousand yuan, an increase of 9.1% at comparable prices.
Fiscal and finance: In 2016, Lianxi district continued to deepen the reform of finance and taxation system,and fullly implemented the "replacing business tax with value-added tax(VAT)" policy, the annual total fiscal revenue is 2 ,826,800 thousand yuan, an increase of 6.2% at comparable prices.The general public budget revenue is 1,320,750 thousand yuan, a decrease of 19.3% at comparable prices.
The completed national tax is 1,533,950 thousand yuan, completing 112.8% of the whole year’s budget, a decrease of 51.1% at comparable prices;The completed local tax is 956,800 thousand yuan, completing 79.1% of the whole year’s budget, a decrease of 29.4% at comparable prices%;The completed fiscal is 336,050 thousand yuan, completing101.8% of the whole year’s budget, a decrease of 15.7% at comparable prices%;
2016, the region completed a general public budget expenditure of 1,935,120 thousand yuan, of which the public finance budget expenditure in the district 1,688,210 thousand yuan, completing 112.5% of the budget, an increase of 12.9% to the previous year. And the special funds for higher level's project is 246,910 thousand yuan.

Population and people's life: in the end of 2016, the resident population in Lianxi district is 251,400, including 128,381 males and 124,051 females. The sex ratio is 103.49. The urbanization rate is 78.78. And the averaged educated years of the population aged 6 and above is 10.41 years, and the averaged educated years of the population of the population aged 15 and above is 10.64 years.The total population of the household registration reaches 231,800, of which 143,181 are urban and 88610 are rural.
In 2016, the per capita disposable income of urban residents is 32,446 yuan, an increase of 8.2% at comparable prices. The per capita disposable income of rural residents is 15,407 yuan, an increase of 8.5% at comparable prices, and the income ratio of urban and rural residents is 2.11 to 1.
In 2016, the resettlement building built in Lianxi district covers 261 thousand square meters; the reconstructed dilapidated building in rural reaches 32. Newly increased urban employment is 5915, the newly granted secured loan is 83,635 thousand yuan and the supported entrepreneurship is 447.The low standards of urban and rural were respectively increased to 480 yuan and 270 yuan in a month respectively, thus the centralized and decentralized support standards of the five guarantees have been achieved for 9 consecutive years, and subsistence to “three without” people is up to 1200 yuan every month,thus it has won the title of "advanced area of the province's social assistance" for 8 consecutive years.
Education and health: there are 45 schools in this district in including 29 primary school, 14 junior high school and 2 high school; the number of class is 587 including 398 in primary school, 131 in middle school and 58 in high school; the number of students is 25,622 including 16,631 in primary school, 6,021 in middle school and 2,970 in high school; the gross enrollment rate of primary school and middle school reaches 100%, and the gross enrollment rate of high school is 89.3%.
The number of the provincial-level key new products declared annually is 3; And there are 14 municipal level scientific and technological innovation projects, among which 4 are approved; 400 patents have been applied and 270 have been authorized.
The problems of "difficult medical treatment" and "expensive medical treatment" have been basically alleviated since the country has carried out the reform of the essential medicines system in 2012.In 2016, there are 142 medical institutions and clinics in the district and 1316 medical and technical personnel including 569 doctors. The number of beds in hospitals and public health centers is 658 beds, and reconstruct 5 public health clinics of public ownership.
